Writing Update. Also known as – Madge, where the hell you been? New Books and Honorable Mentions.

My life since October has sort of been a beautiful disaster. So many things going on, and frankly, not enough time in one day to get everything done.

That’s just life. It’s the way things go.

So, JP what is going on?

Well, I’m so glad you asked.

Quite a lot.

Remember, I’m an author second (“GASP, what?”). Yeah, I know, it’s true. As much as I would love to make writing my primary career, that’s not realistic at this point in my life. My day job, on the other hand, has been nothing short of insane, and that has eaten up a lot of time/energy/space, etc. etc. I work in IT and Healthcare and we’ve just had a massive project go live at a huge teaching hospital. Lots of stakes on the line, and I’m quite thankful to say that we’ve gone live with our project and it all went rather smoothly.

Okay, enough about that. What about “the writing”?

Here’s what I can tell you.

Blood Rites and Sacrifice is the sequel to Magic or Die. It’s going to pick up where we left off, but this book will be told from the point of view of Isaiah. Hold on to your hats. This is going to be darker than Magic or Die, and have lots of elements similar to Voudan styles of magic, but just as many demons and out of control supernatural abilities. We’ll get to see our motley crew of students from Magic or Die, take on the city’s underground world of magic users, deal with Daddy – a siphon type magic-user – and of course, there’s the whole Shawna (remember James’s sister?) turning to Blood Magic. I’m about 20,000+ words into this story. Magic or Die was just over 83,000 words, so, I’m about 1/4 of the way through the book. Here’s a little esthetic board I created for the novel:BloodRitesNSacrifice

But then I had a shiny plot bunny attack me in late Spring and it just wouldn’t leave me alone, so I had to start another project. I know. I can hear you from over here. What can I say….SQUIRREL!

I am writing my first M/M Paranormal Romance. Yes, there are sexy fun times. Yes, there is magic. Yes, there are also wicked Fae and a werewolf pack. Sound exciting? I think it is, and so far the beta readers are LOVING it! This project could turn into another multi-book series, but no promises. This particular tale will wrap up at the end of the book. What’s it all about? Well, you see…there’s this guy named Dev, and he desperately wants to be part of the supernatural world. But despite years of studying Tarot and Runes, Crystal and Spirit Summonings, nothing has ever happened to him that might be considered Magical. That is until he purchases a Summoning Board that will grant his deepest desires.
Accidental Witch

Dev finds himself wrapped up in the local all-male guardian coven, but doesn’t know that the coven leader is up to some shady business. Along the way, Dev finds his own magic, a very hot red-headed boyfriend, and a werewolf pack intent on destroying any witch they come across. Oh, and Dev’s best friend has a rather unfortunate after-effect from making flippant wishes. All this ends up in a HEA ending. I’m almost done writing this story, so stay tuned for updates on when it might be released!

As for Magic or Die, I’m thrilled to say that it received an Honorable Mention at this year’s Rainbow Awards.

Oh, and there’s planning, and outlining, and plot makers, and character sketches being done for Nephilim: Book Two of the Apocalypse – sequel to Daimonion. I’m expecting the writing of that to be completed sometime in late 2020.

See? Lots happening.
